zkGM and welcome to the June edition of the ZKM Newsletter ☀️
We’ve made several significant developments and announcements over the past month - let’s start to unpack them!
We were delighted to announce the launch of our specialist Proving Service, designed to eliminate the hardware constraints for developers when working with our zkMIPS (zkVM).
This new development allows developers to innovate with ZKP’s without restrictions and set new standards for what is possible with blockchain technology.
If you’re interested in accessing the Proving Service to start building with zkMIPS, you can apply for a spot on the whitelist at https://zkm.io/apply, as availability for the initial testing phase is limited.

ZKM Research released a new paper titled 'zkMIPS: a high-level specification', which outlines the development of our zkMIPS, a general-purpose zkVM that utilizes the MIPS instruction set and processor architecture to facilitate verifiable computations, producing succinct proofs that efficiently verify computation integrity.
The paper is available here: https://whitepaper.zkm.io/new_zkMIPS_white_paper.pdf and we’re inviting collaborations to help improve this ever-evolving work. Join the discussion on our Discord Server to provide feedback on the zkMIPS paper: https://discord.com/invite/projectzkm or proceed to the zkMIPS GitHub to make a code contribution: https://github.com/zkMIPS
Following the release of the paper, ZKM Research held a special event to answer questions about zkMIPS and discuss the feedback we had from the community. If you missed the live event, you can find the recording here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOd7tLV-bC8
The AMA was followed by the release of high-level Q&A to address the key questions that came from our community: https://zkm.io/blog/zkmips-a-high-level-specification-questions
If you still have any questions after this, then please don’t hesitate to follow them up by asking in our Discord!
House of ZK announced that it’s making a grand return for ETHCC in Brussels!
We’ve planned a day filled with insightful conversations and debates about Zero Knowledge, followed by our exclusive Happy Hour, designed to help guests unwind with an eclectic mix of handcrafted cocktails, delectable appetizers, and an atmosphere that's perfect for relaxing after a full day of deep-diving into the world of Zero Knowledge.
You can find more details - including how you can apply to attend, sponsor, or speak - at https://zkm.io/events/house-of-zk-brussels
House of ZK also released a teaser from their genesis podcast episode - ProjectZKM Chief Scientist Ming Guo (@DacEconomy) got deeply philosophical when discussing his motivations for building in the blockchain space 🐝
Look out for the full episode, coming out very soon! https://x.com/HouseofZK/status/1798710310532215222
Ming also participated in a ZKM-focused AMA with Staking Circle, where he gave a deep-dive into all things ZKM. You can find Staking Circles text-based summary here: https://x.com/stakingcircle/status/1799129592952651947
We announced that we’ll be partnering with Marlin Protocol, enabling developers to leverage our zkMIPS for efficient and cost-effective ZK Proof generation via Kalypso.
This followed an earlier announcement of our partnership with Gevulot, which will also provide seamless access to our zkMIPS without developers needing to run node hardware themselves.
Lastly, but certainly not least, Free Labs announced their strategic investment in ZKM, recognising our potential to transform blockchain interoperability.
We’re absolutely delighted to have all of these partners on board to help push us mutually forward!
We witnessed the brand launch of GOAT Network, which will be the first Bitcoin Layer 2 to share network ownership, and will be using our zkMIPS (zkVM) to achieve native Bitcoin security - undoubtedly the first of many chains to be built on top of our tech stack!
You can give GOAT Network a follow on Twitter and learn more about them: @GOATRollup
We held multiple ZK-focused quizzes in our Discord over the past month, mostly focused around our new zkMIPS paper. Quiz Time takes place every Thursday at 6pm UTC.
Congratulations to sukrucildirr for so far leading the overall leaderboard - more prizes coming your way if you keep this up!
We now have over 25,000 participants in the Zealy portion of our ECP and over 200,000 Quests were completed this month! To get involved with our Zealy campaign to gain ZKM POINTS, head to zealy.io/cw/zkm/invite/S4hu8psK84F5XtAHTvohi
ZKM CEO Kevin Liu offered prescient insights into ZKM's present and future direction in an interview with TechTimes.
You can find the interview here: https://www.techtimes.com/articles/305404/20240606/behind-zkm-an-interview-with-co-founder-and-ceo-kevin-liu-on-building-blockchain-interoperability.htm
This followed Kevin’s highly insightful article from the previous month, which explored how a zkVM can achieve network effects. In case you missed it, you can find it on the ZKM blog: https://www.zkm.io/blog/how-can-a-general-purpose-zkvm-achieve-network-effects
We could go on and on, but that’s quite enough for you to digest for one month! See you next time for a special anniversary edition of Hello World! ☀️
